museum night
Note Museum Night is cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
Taking place once a year for one night only, Museum Night sees Amsterdam’s best cultural attractions open their doors late into the night. Get entry to over 50 museums until 2am and be treated to various exhibitions, live music, food and drink, special events and other various surprises.
This annual event takes places on the first Saturday in November.
See 3 things you should know about Museum Nights below.
1. Buying Your Wristband
Museum Night wristbands tend to sell out every year, so make sure you buy your wristband ahead of the event. They cost 22.50 Euros and are available in the run up to the event here.
2. Plan Your Route
With over 50 museums, galleries and attractions to choose from, it’s a good idea to plan a rough route before you head out. Read all about what’s on offer at each location by viewing the website and use their planning feature to add your favorites to a list. I’d do the more interactive museums first, for example NEMO Science Museum and The Planetarium and Artis Aquarium, and save other sites e.g. Hortus Botanicus for drinks and dancing later.
3. Hire a Bike
The most popular way to travel between the different museums is by bike and you’ll see hundreds of bikes parked up outside each venue. If your bike isn’t very identifiable make sure you leave it in a memorable place! You can also walk, but make sure you choose museums that aren’t too far apart so that you don’t spend the whole night just walking around Amsterdam!
