1. REM Eiland

In the harbour of Amsterdam you’ll find this pirate radio station turned restaurant sitting at 22 metres above the water. They serve a selection of classic European dishes including redfish fillet, tomahawk steak beef and mushroom risotto. The rooftop terrace is lovely in summer where you can dine al fresco.

2. CTaste

Experience something totally different at Ctaste where the whole dining experience is done in the dark. Hear, feel, smell, talk, listen in complete darkness whilst a team of highly-trained, partially sighted waiters serve your table. Choose from a variety of dining packages at prices from €50 – 80 pp depending on number of courses. A very unique experience!

3. Restaurant De Kas

A real Amsterdam gem, Restaurant De Kas offers a unique dining experience – inside an 8m high luxury greenhouse in the middle of a beautiful park. At De Kas everything is grown in the surrounding greenhouses, and the fixed menu is designed around whatever has been picked that day. They started in 2001 and their ethos has always been ‘from plant to plate’. And, as you might expect from the price per head (!), the food is delicious. Book months in advance.

4. Restaurant Moon

Climb up to the 19th floor of the A’DAM Tower to experience a revolving restaurant called Moon. Enjoy a unique fine dining experience comprising of Dutch, International and European cuisines, all with a spectacular 360˚ panorama of Amsterdam. For something really out there, try the seven course tasting menu paired with a wine flight.

Also in A’DAM Tower you’ll find Madam bar, where you can order smaller snacks and drinks inside or on the rooftop bar upstairs. If you’re not too stuffed after dinner you can descend to the basement of the tower to visit the underground nightclub Shelter.

5. TonTon Club

TonTon Club is a hugely popular bar and restaurant with a particular draw, it also has an adult arcade room! With two locations in Amsterdam (one near the Red Light District and one in Westerpark), TonTon Club features a variety of classic arcade games, pinball, air hockey, dancers, racers and shooting games, and also a load of board games. They have a pay-as-you-play system with customers purchasing tokens at the bar.

At the central location food is centered around Italian cuisine, and in Westerpark they have a Japanese menu. I’ve only eaten at the Westerpark site, and the food was good, spending €15 on a ramen and €8 for a G&T.
